Characters:

Kittygirl/Danny- knows that Ruby is Puppyboy- Kittygirls costume: a mask, cat ears, a Kitty Girl jacket, some shorts. Dannys costume: a t-shirt, some shorts, flip flops.
Puppyboy/Ruby- does not know that Danny is Kittygirl costume: mask, puppy ears, Puppy Boy jacket, some shorts. Rubys costume: T-shirt, shorts, sneakers.
Fi- the only person who knows Dannys secret identity
Girl- she's 6 years old

(Narrator enters)

Narrator: Once upon a time on a planet called Mewpurrter there lived a girl named Danny….. Danny didn't actually live on Mewpurrter but she wished that she did. Danny and one of her really good friends named Fi both loved cats so much that one day they came up with an imaginary place called Mewpurrter, in Mewpurrter the official language was Catish and they had Mewpurrter traditional dances, songs and games. But that's not where our story begins. Our story begins on the planet of Earth where Danny went to school. In Dannys grade she had two really good friends. One was Fi and the other was Ruby. Danny loved playing and hanging out with her friends. She couldn't stand bullying or animal abuse and would stand up to anyone she saw doing this. One day Danny was walking through the park when she saw two kids hurting a defenseless cat.

(Danny enters)

Danny: HEY YOU TWO!!! STOP HURTING THAT CAT!

(Danny runs off)

Narrator: Danny rescued the cat and sent the two bullies running away.

(Danny walks on holding Fluffypaws)

Danny: awww you poor thing! How dare those evil kids hurt you!

(a girl runs on)

Girl: FLUFFYPAWS!!! (the girl runs over and takes the cat from Danny) Oh! I was so worried about you! (she turns toward Danny) Thank You soooooo much! I saw how you rescued Fluffypaws from those two bullies. Thank you.

Danny: it was no big deal

Girl: are you some kind of superhero or something? Because only a superhero would be able to do something as brave as that.

Danny: well um…

Girl: oh yeah sorry I forgot superheroes aren't allowed to give away their identities.

Danny: ….

Girl: ohh ohHH OHHHH! What's your superhero name?

Danny: ...

Girl: wait wait wait! Don't tell me! I want to guess

Danny: …..

Girl: since you saved my cat I think your superhero name is um…. Cat. no no, kitty…. Wait are you a girl or a boy?

Danny: ……. Um, girl I guess

Girl: okay then I think your superhero name in Kittygirl! Am I right? Am I right? Am I right? (looks at Danny with sparkling eyes)

Danny: well I mean.. Yes I am Kittygirl. (she says weirdy)

Girl: WOW!!! I can't believe I met a real live superhero! I can't wait to tell mommy and daddy when I get home!

Danny: I love that you're excited and all but maybe it’d be better if you didn-

Girl: oh don't worry I wont tell anyone what you look like! I'll just say that Kittygirl saved my cat Fluffypaws.

(the girl runs off carrying Fluffypaws with her)

Danny: okay well…. I guess I'm Kittygirl now.

(Danny walks off)

(Narrator enters)

Narrator: and that was the day that Danny became Kittygirl. Of course she didn't even realize this until the next day at recess…

(Narrator exits. Ruby, Fi, Kyle, Joey, and Lillian enter.)

Kyle: did you guys hear about what happened yesterday?

Lillian: no what happened, Kyle?

Kyle: oh my gosh are you seriously Lillian it was all over the news.

Ruby: you mean about that Kittycat person?

Fi: really Ruby? her name is Kittygirl and she is fabulous! She saved a cat! She's not just that Kittycat person.

Joey: in my opinion really anyone can save a cat. She gets too much credit for not really doing anything. But I do think it's impressive that she stood up to those bullies.

Fi: How could you say that Joey! She deserves all the credit in the world for saving a cat!

Kyle: It turned out that the two kids who she sent running for the hills are well known in the high school they go to for being really rude, mean, and scary.

Joey: what highschool do they go to?

Kyle: um, they said it on the news, I just can't remember what it was.

Fi: why should it matter! They are bullies! She’s Kittygirl! And she saved a cat! (voice gets a little bit lower)that's really all that should matter

Ruby: I agree. She sounds really cool. Too bad we can't meet her

Lillian: same! Its sounds really cool to get to meet a superhero in person.

Joey: you idiot! Superheros don't really exist. She is just a person who decided to actually do something with her life other than just walk around until she's old enough to get a job

Lillian: how do you know she doesn't already have a job?

Joey: OH MY GOSH!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!

Lillian: WHAT!

Joey: seriously do you not know anything! On the news they said she was um… I can't remember the exact age except for the part that she was definitely under 18

Kyle: OH YEAH! I think she was maybe 14 or 15

Fi: no she was 16 or 17

Ruby: I'm pretty sure they said they thought she was maybe 13 but all they know for sure is that she is under 18

Lillian: oh okay

(Danny enters)

Danny: what you guys talking about?

Fi: Kittygirl!

Danny: who?

Fi: you really haven't heard of her either! She was in the news last night. She saved a cat from two mean bullies

Danny: ……….oh yeah...That Kittygirl person.

Fi: you forgot?

Danny: I heard about her yesterday. She was on the news. I just kind of forgot. So yeah.

Lilian: how old do you think she is?

Joey: will you shut up about her age already! It doesn't really matter

Ruby: I just wish I could meet her and know who she is!

Kyle: I agree completely

Fi: me too

Joey: yea it sounds pretty cool to get to meet a famous person

Lillian: yeah!

Danny: she's not famous…(has a little bit of a scared look)...right?

Fi: well I think she's really amazing but I'm not going to make a big deal out of it. But I heard that there are a lot of people trying to figure out who she is or who told the police about what she did

Danny: (whispers under breath) the little girl…

Kyle: the what?

Danny: oh nothing just wondering who the cat was that she saved

Fi: not sure I just know it was a cat

Someone: time to line up! (Someone calls from off stage)

Danny: oh well. Time to go inside.

(Lillian, Joey, Kyle, and Ruby walk off)

Fi: it's you isn't it?

Danny: me what?

Fi: I heard what you said under your breath a minute ago…… the thing about the little girl

Danny: oh…. That

Fi: it's you… your Kittygirl… right?

Danny: yes. I would have told you. I would have told everyone! But I just… I just can't. The look on that little girl's face when she thought I was a real superhero. I just… I couldn't ruin that for her….. For everyone else that thinks I'm really a hero

Fi: no worries. Your secrets safe with me.

Danny: thanks

Fi: can I be your manager?

Danny: my what?

Fi: your manager! You know.. Like figure out where you should go to save more cats or animals and more people

Danny: wait are you suggesting I do this as like a regular day thing?

Fi: well why not?

Danny: okay I guess.

Fi: Yay!

Ruby: (from offstage) Hey Danny, are you coming?

Danny: yeah one second! (turns back to Fi) Okay talk to you later!

(Danny exits)

Fi: aww how cute. She likes him. And he likes her. Oh… but it's too bad that neither of them will admit it…

(Fi walks off. Narrator enters)

Narrator: and there you have it. The beginning of Kittygirl. But don't worry our stories not done yet. There's much more to come. You haven't even heard about Puppyboy yet!...... it was about four months after Danny became Kittygirl. No one other than Fi had figured out her identity and Fi was being a great manager. Danny I mean Kittygirl was just walking home from helping save a puppy that was inside a burning house. She had given the puppy back to its owners who thanked her very much and then she set off home. It was a very long two and a half hour walk back from where she was. And it just so happened that she was in the same neighborhood that Ruby lived in. as she turned a corner she felt as if someone was watching her.

(Narrator exits. Kittygirl enters)

Kittygirl: hello? Is someone there?

(Ruby enters)

Ruby: h..h...hi I..I’m Ruby and I w..was just wo….wondering if I c..could have your autograph? (he holds out a little notebook)

Kittygirl: oh sure. (she smiles and takes the notebook. Then she gets out a pen from her pocket, signs the book and gives it back)

Ruby: thanks! I saw what you did back there. You know, saving that puppy and all.

Kittygirl: oh it was no big deal. I do it all the time

Ruby: yeah I’ve noticed. It's too bad I'm not like you. I wish I could be an amazing superhero too.

Kittygirl: why can't you?

Ruby: well for one, I don't have a superhero name. Also I would never be able to figure out when and where I should be somewhere. How do you do that?

Kittygirl: if there's an emergency somewhere close to where I am my manager gives me a call and tells me. Other times I just accidentally stumble upon some crazy emergency.

Ruby: oh thats cool. I was wondering… how old are you? Me and some of my friends where wondering.

Kittygirl: 12 almost 13

Ruby: really! Then your pretty much the same age as me! Whens your birthday?

Kittygirl: sorry, I can't tell you that. It might help someone figure out my secret identity. Also you don't need to wish to be like me. It's not worth it.

Ruby: but you're soooo cool! And if I knew how to fight and save people as good as you then (mutters under his breath) then I'd be able to protect Danny. just in case anything ever happens to her.

Kittygirl: whos this Danny person?

Ruby: wait what! You.. you weren't supposed to hear that.

Kittygirl: maybe I wasn't supposed to but I did. Now tell me who’s this Danny kid and why would you need to protect her?

Ruby: oh… well.. Um.. she's an amazing girl that goes to my school. She's really nice and is really strong and can probably fight and beat pretty much any kid I know.

Kittygirl: that doesn't really sound like she would need protecting to me?

Ruby: I know she doesn't. I just want to know that if anything ever happens to her that I'm able to protect her. But if something ever does happen it will most likely be her protecting me, I mean I'm fine with that I just.. I just want to make sure

Kittygirl: okay then why don't you be my sidekick.

Ruby: wait, WHAT!

Kittygirl: well why not. You said you wanted to learn how to protect this girl and I think it's really nice that you care so much about her. So why don't you say yes and be my sidekick.

Ruby: well I…. I'm not sure. What about school?

Kittygirl: I have to go to school too. Remember, I said I was 12. I'm in seventh grade and go to school like a normal kid. yet I still am able to save people. I just save them on weekends and after school.

Ruby: oh. Well I don't even know how to fight or save animals.

Kittygirl: no worries. I'll teach you.

Ruby: okay fine. I'll do it!

Kittygirl: great! Now we just need a superhero name for you.

Ruby: okay. Um...well it has to go with Kittygirl since I'm your sidekick.

Kittygirl: oh I have an idea! Wait.. would you prefer to be called a boy or a girl or does it not matter.

Ruby: well I'm not really sure. I guess it doesn't really matter

Kittygirl: okay good. I think your superhero name should be Puppyboy. Because first of all I'm a cat so you can be a dog and usually dogs and cats hate each other so it would be funny to see two heros with those names. And second, there aren't many boy, girl superhero teams in comics or on TV.

Ruby: okay then I guess im Puppyboy now

Kittygirl: yay! Well let's go figure out when to meet so you can start training to become as Fabulous as a superhero as me.

Ruby: you know, that sounds like something Danny would say

Kittygirl: interesting.. Tell me more about this Danny person

(they walk off talking to each other)

(Narrator enters)

Narrator: and that's how Ruby became Puppyboy. And no our story is not over quite yet. Danny knows that Ruby is Puppyboy. But Ruby still has no clue that Danny is Kittygirl. Danny never really started to hint her secret identity until about two months later. Her first big hint was one day during Spring break when her as Kittygirl and Ruby as Puppyboy had just finished a training session on how to run through a burning building without catching on fire….

(Narrator exits. Kittygirl and Puppyboy enter)

Puppyboy: that was really fun! I just wish Danny was here to see how good I am at fighting

Kittygirl: oh yes, Danny. The girl you are constantly talking about. You know I think I’ve met her before. Doesn't she have blondish brown hair and blue eyes?

Puppyboy: yes but how did you….

Kittygirl: oh yes and she was in that fabulous Cat play a few months ago.

Puppyboy: yeah she was…. Wait a second do you go to the same school as me?

Kittygirl: I told you I can’t tell you what school I go to. it could blow my cover.

Puppyboy: but.. But I’m your sidekick… you know my identity so why can’t I know yours.

Kittygirl: because…. Because I just can’t tell you yet. But I promise I will one day.

Puppyboy: when?

Kittygirl: I don’t know yet..

(kittygirl exits)

Puppyboy: wait you still never told me how you know Danny!

(Puppyboy runs off after Kittygirl)

(Narrator enters)

Narrator: and that was the day Ruby finally realized that Kittygirl went to the same school as him. The next day after capturing some wanted criminals and taking them to jail. Ruby as Puppyboy was asking Kittygirl if he could tell Danny the truth…..

(Narrator exits. Kittygirl and Puppyboy enter)

Puppyboy: okay so I'm wondering…

Kittygirl: yeah what is it?

Puppyboy: can I tell Danny that I’m Puppyboy?

Kittygirl: well… I'm not sure.

Puppyboy: she's pretty much my best friend! Your manager knows your identity so why cant I tell Danny my Identity! Please!!!!

Kittygirl: okay fine, you can tell her. Just make sure that no one else finds out.

Puppyboy: wait really? That actually worked?

kittygirl: yep, now let's go!

(Kittygirl and Puppyboy exit. Narrator enters)

Narrator: so Ruby finally got permission to tell Danny that he was Puppyboy. But if he tells Danny that he is Puppyboy won't that make Danny feel like she should tell him that she is Kittygirl?

(Narrator exits. Lillian and Ruby enter. Danny is sitting on a bench at the other side of the playground)

Lillian: hey did you hear about that new game that came out a few days ago. I heard that it’s-

Ruby: oh hey sorry. I have to go talk to Danny. maybe we can talk later.

Lillian: oh okay…

(Ruby walks over to Danny and sits down next to her. Lillian exits)

Ruby: hi

Danny: hello

Ruby: so what you doin?

Danny: people watching

Ruby: oh...

Danny: yeah, is there something you wanted to say to me?

Ruby: oh well I. Yes there is something I kind of.. I….um.

(Ruby hugs Danny)

Ruby: Danny, I'm so sorry.

Danny: for what?

Ruby: for not telling you something that I should have told you

Danny: well then why don't you tell me right now.

Ruby: I… okay. I want to tell you that I'm… that… that….. I...I’m…..

Danny: Puppyboy?

Ruby: what!

Danny: well weren't you going to tell me that you are Puppyboy?

Ruby: yeah….. But how did you know what I was going to say? And more importantly how do you know I’m Puppyboy?

Danny: seriously you haven't figured it out yet. It's very obvious.

Ruby: wait a second! Are you..

Danny: yes?

Ruby: are you Kittygirl’s friend? I think she goes to this school. Do you know which person she is?

Danny: well yeah… I guess you could say that…. But that's not exactly-

Ruby: oh I knew it! I knew that Kittygirl went to our school! Can you tell me which person she is?

Danny: oh well I…. I'm not sure I should-

Ruby: please!

Danny: okay fine I'll give you a hint.

Ruby: okay

Danny: Kittygirl goes to this school, she loves cats. She says fabulous a lot. And you are sitting next to her.

Ruby: WAIT WHAT!!!!! Your Kittygirl!

Danny: yep.

Ruby: wait so I've been hanging out with you for like six months after school and I didn't even know it was you?

Danny: yes, that's correct.

Ruby: but you new that I was Puppyboy the whole time?

Danny: yea….

Ruby: why didn't you tell me?

Danny: I.. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. Me and Fi decided it was just best for you not to know until we decided if you would be able to keep the secret.

Ruby: oh okay that makes sense. Wait did you say you and Fi?

Danny: oh yeah. Fi is my manager.

Ruby: oh. I should have expected that.

Danny: do you want to go to the park with me after school?

Ruby: oh. For another training session?

Danny: no. I meant go to the park as Danny and Ruby. Not as Kittygirl and Puppyboy.

Ruby: oh, well in that case I love you… AH I mean I'd love to! Sorry. I guess I wasn't paying full attention to what i was saying. I didn't mean to say that.

(Danny puts her arm around Ruby)

Danny: I think we both know what you meant to say. Now let's go. I think we have to line up now.

Ruby: (very embarrassed) oh… um okay.

(Danny and Ruby exit. Narrator enters)

Narrator: after school on the way to the park…

(Narrator exits. Danny and Ruby enter. Danny is holding Rubys wrist and pulling him behind her)

Danny: follow me it's this way we are almost there.

(Danny slows down and lets go of Rubys wrist)

(Ruby looks at Danny's hand for a second and then moves his hand over and holds her hand)

Ruby: so where is this park?

Danny: close

(they walk off holding hands. Narrator enters)

Narrator: And then a few minutes later when they finally got to the park…..

(Narrator exits. Danny and Ruby enter still holding hands)

(they walk across the stage and sit down on a bench)

Danny: you might think it's weird but I love this place. It's on the top of a hill so I just like to look out across the forest and fields and feel the wind.

Ruby: no I don’t think that’s weird. It’s really cool.

Danny: thanks

(Danny stares into Ruby's eyes. Ruby stares back)

Ruby: why are you staring at me?

Danny: I don't know why are you staring at me?

Ruby: because you are staring at me.

(they are still staring at each other)

Danny: this conversation is pathetic.

(Ruby leans on Danny and puts his arm around her)

Ruby: yea the conversation is pathetic. Almost as pathetic as you. (he says jokingly)

Danny: yeah right. I'm the fabulous one. You are the pathetic one.

Ruby: oh you wish you were as fabulous as me.

Danny: okay fine I admit it. You are almost as fabulous as me.

Ruby: no I'm 10 times more fabulous than you.

Danny: okay fine. We are equally fabulous.

(awkward silence for about 30 seconds)

Ruby: so….

Danny: so….

Ruby: are we still planning to be Kittygirl and Puppyboy?

Danny: huh? Why wouldn't we be?

Ruby: I don't know. I just wanted to make sure….

Danny: wait… do you not want to be Puppyboy anymore?

Ruby: no way! Of course I want to be Puppyboy! I was just scared that you maybe wouldn't want to be Kittygirl….

Danny: well don't be scared. Of course I want to be Kittygirl.

(Dannys phone dings and she takes it out of her pocket and looks at it. Danny jumps off of the bench and puts her hand out to help Ruby up)

Danny: come on, Puppyboy. Fi just texted me and said there is a robbery about two streets away. Let's go!

(Ruby takes Danny's hand and she helps him up then they walk off with their arms around each other)

(Fi enters)

Fi: Great! They fell in love! It's exactly what I have been planning since the day Danny became Kittygirl. I didn't set up the first thing Danny did. It was pure luck that she rescued that cat and that little girl called her Kittygirl. Also the fact that I figured out that she was Kittygirl. But the rest was all me. I knew Ruby was walking around that day when Danny saved that puppy. I made sure that they ran into each other. And then I made sure that they waited a while but that eventually Danny told Ruby that she was Kittygirl. Its purrfect.

(all actors enter and take their bows)
